Today is a very special day for ME. They have reached the 12 week old mark birthday. I was told that 12 weeks for twins is similar to the 8 weeks for a singleton because they begin to move into a schedule and the fussy period is slowly tapering off. Let me tell you I couldn't agree more and my confidence as a mom of twins has increased. Good things come to those who gut it out and wait! In this Top Ten I look back over the past 12 weeks to share some of my favorite memories. I hope you enjoy.
10. Tummy time is no longer viewed as torture but an opportunity to enjoy some of their favorite hobbies. Tummy time for Ethan means sucking his hands while Madelyn likes to push off with her feet to create movement on the play mat.
9. They are aware of each other. Most days it's a staring contest to see why their sibling is crying or a "conversation" as to why it takes me so long to feed them.
8. The General has found her voice and it is bossy as ever!! She doesn't coo or babble she screeches and screams. I am convinced that she is trying to give orders to me and the husband.
7. Ethan rolled over. I really think it was accidental because he has not performed this feat again. Im telling you that The Guardian/Juggernaut doesn't know his own strength.
6. Playtime on the floor is more than having two pair of eyeballs staring at me. Ethan loves to "talk" to his singing monkey and Madelyn is mesmerized by the fan.
5. We've been in the streets!!! I mustered up enough courage to take them with me to run errands and on excursions with The Great around town. The General is always awake while The Guardian sleeps on the job.
4. They find The Great to be quite entertaining. They especially love when he gets directly in their face for an occasional head butt as he is trying to give them a kiss.
3. Now you can ask me about their sleeping patterns. ☺️. Bedtime is now 8:45 instead of 9:45 and they get up twice to eat! Most nights they go back to sleep after eating but occasionally we will have discussions about life and the fluctuating price of gas.
2. Smiles and laughter are now the norm and they instantly melt our hearts. I'm not sure if the smiles and laughter are the result of gas, which they have a lot of, but we will take it!
1. We made it! The twins are healthy, The Great continues to enjoy life like only he can and the parents still love each other. Life is good.
